You are so bad!!! NO NO NO NO NO no no no no noyes yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!

All I ask is that someone take a few pictures to record this road trip if it happens. I have a feeling you two would have a blast! Amy, you have to feel sorry for Jackie and go with her on this trip. Remember, she has been taking care of Cleve and is about to go crazy. She needs to get away. (Sorry, I'm a really bad enabler!).

Shoot, my last chicken brokering for Amy resulted in chickens going crazy in the back of my car. I had a big plastic tote with no lid on and took a turn too hot (I have a Mini, ok I take all the turns too hot) and I uh, ruffled some feathers. So I cant help but LOL as I look in my rearview mirror and see feathers flying everywhere and cackeling and all kinds of ruckus. I was laughing so I hard I almost had to pull over. Oops

OK the Update...PumPum is still in the house. I did another fecal exam and it was negative for roundworms!!!! But after examining the photos posted early, and more on the internet I found that I had missed Coccidia, cause I was so sure I only saw Roundworm eggs I didn't even try to look for others...(BAD TECH)

wee.gif
to finally be able to get my hands on Sulmet I could have died, but they closed before I got off...So Mission Impossible for dear ol Pops!!!! Other BackYard happenings...The Rooster (Bleu the Blue JG) has approval now of 90% of his flock and he does a great job watching out over them! And ever since he charged me and got a strong foot to the chest, Me and him have a complete understanding. He is way to big to be a bully in the yard. And the other babies in the grow up pen get to free range for a few hours everynight and are getting big, My pullet BlkJG is bigger than my BarredRocks, but just not as fat yet, but taller and my SLW is beautiful and Lucy the EE is a cool little bird that is now my dads favorite when he comes over to talk and hang out with my flock.(Oh the Rooster Charged him too....)
gig.gif
Dad calls him "One Big Bird" I call him "S.O.B." most of the time then sometimes just "Bleu u A$$"!!!
lau.gif

But I will say this(that most of you already know) My first Babies(my hens) I held alot and played with and messsed with them all the time and Now I can do anything to them I call them they come I go to pick them up no problem...My Blue JG rooster well didn't handle as much so now if I had to get him..Oh lord help us all. The new babies run after me and will eat from my hand, but they don't like to be touched at all well except for PumPum who never even knew I was going too. So she doesn't mind it at all. So any other babies I should get will be held and petted more like the first ones!!! I do love my chickens! Just like all of you!!!!!

I am sooooo flustered at the moment.....Feeling like nothing is going right. It all started yesterday when I couldn't catch the last two roo's and left them out for the night. Guess what??? When I went out this morning, one was gone. WTHeck? Why do varmints have to get the good chickens? I purposefully leave some out, and they are still there every morning. Try teaching a good chicken a lesson, and it ends up gone. Told my father in law about my missing chicken, and he starts ranting about how it's a waste of money and how it made no sense messing with them. Now this was from a man with 20+ Guineas, 20+ chickens, 1 dog, 1 cat, 2 horses, turkeys, and lots of cows. Go figure? Called my hubby to report the news of my missing chicken, and he could have cared less!!! I couldn't talk to him on the phone, so I hung up, and sent him a text telling him I thought he was hateful. Today I figured out what texting was for- It's a way of communicating with people when you could care less to talk to them. LOL. So, I had a mission when I got off of work today. I was to try and find some sort of temporary netting for a makeshift pen. Bought the plastic fencing, and some of those fiberglass step on posts. Came home, and tried putting up the fence. DISASTER!!!! The perfectionist side of me was having a fight with my head. I couldn't get the posts in the ground straight, and the net wasn't level. I burst into tears, and am now ready to get rid of all chickens. I couldn't sit down in my chair bc someone had pooped in it. With tears running down my face, and hands in the air, I decided to come inside, fix me a margarita, and take a hot bath. I'm much better now. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I've been thinking......Habitat for Humanity builds homes for the needy, right? Well, maybe we need to make a Palace for Poultry. Same concept, just now women will build housing for animals. THE END

Palaces for Poultry: I love it! I can't swing a hammer for squat, but I know how to hold the other end while boards are being cut and such. I was once a public works painter, so I can not only talk your ear off ABOUT paint, I CAN do a great job painting indoors and out.

So we start in SC and work our way to other states?

CCK, sometimes you have to call a sympathetic ear. I'd also suggest female. Guys don't want to hear us vent. If they can't figure out how to fix it, we should "quit complaining about it". When I tried to dream big while designing my coop, I had to resist the urge to scream at my father and my husband everytime they said a varient of "you don't need that". I WANT IT! (Still want most of it now, come to think of it!)

Sometimes those stakes just won't drive straight. Clothespins can hold netting in place until you are ready to tie down or staple or hammer or whatever. If it protects the birds, it doesn't matter what it looks like. Tell your critics "I did it by myself" and if they don't like it "you can build a better one over there". Then you can post pictures and we'll vote as to which one looks and works better.

Enough brilliant ideas from me tonight. Good night and Sweet Dreams!

I'm afraid to take fecal samples to my work anymore. I'm a vet assistant. Last two times I did the samples were COVERED in cocci. One was in a sick bird. One was a sample I did in office just as a heck I might as well since I have the chick here situation. (had it there for it's eyes to be looked at) even the ones that were in perfect health had it. Considering the way the parasite lives my soil is contaminated so I just treat every few months now. I guess this means I need to move? I wonder how my hubby would react to this solution!

Jackie, you are a wild one!

Yancy, you should have called me. I usually have an extra bottle on hand. With this many chicks all the time I have to keep it. I am not sure but medicated starter may run me a lot cheaper.

Thanks Amy!!! I'm just glad I found some!!! This may not be the whole problem with her.....we'll see. But the New Fancy Palace is almost done and will go up.

Funny Story from the BackYard....The Babies the SLW,JG & EE now free range with everyone...but tonight these little chickes that are actually big now are in hunting mode....well........a young gray squirrel came into the fence (oh the dogs are in the house where it's cool cause they went on a 2 mile run today)(or they would have been on it)...So the Babies decided to hunt it (to eat or just chase
gig.gif
)(REALLY!!???)...well they ran it into the protective grounds of the ROOSTER. So... the look on his face was
ep.gif
... HE CAME RUNNING like a MAN on FIRE
somad.gif
somad.gif
and so did the hens....I tell it was so funny watching these chickens hunt this squirrel like a pack of raptures. ok so needless to say it was faster and shot threw the fence and up a tree, Where they yelled and crowed at it...So I guess my yard will never be Squirrel friendly.

Good Morning Everybody! I got all my chicken chores done early since it's not so bad out there right now, and I can play the rest of the morning. I"m heading off to go grab a bite to eat with a friend and then adventuring down at the farmer's market. Hope everyone has a great day!

I try to get it all done early! I really do! But somehow I wind up working all day, filling waterers that I swear were totally full at 7 am but when I go around 1 pm to put ice in water containers all the water is gone!
somad.gif
I think they are playing in it to keep cool because 4 little birds should not be able to down a gallon of water.

And I know the ducks splash out all the water and then scream for me to come fill the pool with cold fresh water again. We play that game a lot lately.

Have a good weekend and keep cool, everyone!
