I agree 100%! I am miserable and melted. Giving the birds fresh water twice daily and I still lost another buff orp hen today! It breaks my heart, the buff orps are in the biggest yard with the most shade and extra drinkers. Short of bringing them all into the A/C I don't know what else to do for them. I'm looking forward to the cooling temps in the weather forecast. It's not supposed to get above 95 degrees on Monday.

HEY EVERYONE!! 2 of My 4 Delawares and 1 of my 2 Speckled Sussex laid their first egg today! The wife sent me a picture of them since I'm out in Texas on business.

I got rain here last night! Yah!

Today I tossed a chick into the coop. It's about 8 weeks and the size of a dang 4 week old. Failure to thrive issue. It's finally catching up in growth and just got feathered in. Naturally it was chased around a while. But I just left it be and they got bored with him. He will probably be healthier outside and be able to catch up in growth better there than in the cramped brooder. Also took the liberty of chancing it and tossing my pheasants in the coop too. I heard they dig bad. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

Somehow I ended up with too many roosters. Going to have to part with some soon. I just don't know how to make that decision.

Eggs make me soooo happy!

This is how hot it is, I drained and cleaned the duck pond today (weekly chore in this heat). Just got it filled back up and my 7 year old is trying to get in the pond for a quick swim before the ducks beat him to it.

The life of farm children is surely different.
