I have a question - do any of you sell your feathers for crafting and such? I have someone wanting my extra feathers and I'm not sure how to price them. I can price the peafowl feathers by the piece as they're big enough (not sure how much per piece though) but those little polka dotted guinea feathers and the pretty rooster tail feathers, do I sell them by the zip lock bag? I don't think I can price them per pound.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I would check out ebay and see if you can find anyone selling some on there. I know the fishing magazines have some for sale but I think as a kit and not just feathers. I could be wrong on that, it has been many years since I picked up one of those magazines. But I would think ebay would be a good start.

Okay, Jackie, we are looking at a BIG road trip there!

That would be a day trip and if we get that close to the beach I may not ever come back home! Then again, I would want those beautiful keets back in my brooder.

Nadine is right, check out ebay. I sell feathers on there but it just depends on the time of year as to what I get for them. I have a person that buys a good deal of big feathers from me for .10 a feather but I am not sure that is totally fair for small numbers.

Nadine, I think I sent you a PM.

Remember I have Buffs, Buff dundottes, Browns, Chocolates, Coral Blues, Lavenders, and Royal Purples(plus some colors in between). In my hatches I get a wide range of colors from white to pearl. I do not have any pearl birds in my standard guineas, only in my french and they stay away from the smaller birds--but you will still get pearls in your hatch. You could and should also get all of the above. Anyway, check my pm and we will talk more.

Alright fellow chicken wranglers, I am in need of advise. I have counted myself blessed so far this summer as I have not lost any chickens to the heat, had some babies and dealt with a round of cocci, but that was fixed relatively quickly with Sulmet. However, the past couple of days I notice that Big Daddy Roo has just been laying around in the shade. That's not a big deal, it's hot, and whenever I would walk towards him he would get up and walk around. Not, today. Today he just lay there with one eye closed and the other at half mast. He couldn't even walk. Once I picked him up I noticed he has lost some weight, before I couldn't even feel his keel ( he was about 14 pounds) and now I can feel it quite well. I noticed when I picked him up that his poop is quite runny and sticking to his feathers although it hasn't changed colors from his normal poop if that make sense. Honestly I have not seen him eat in over a week or drink either for that matter.

I have him inside in a cage in the living room at the moment, and have been giving him water with a little bit of sugar in it with a syringe. When I first brought him in, it was easy to give him the water, this last hour he had a bit of energy back it seemed and tried to tell me no, I insisted on 6 cc of water. He is not in the least interested in any of his favorite foods, grapes, watermelon or bread.
Any ideas? Aside from keeping him inside to keep cool, and making him drink some water every couple of hours, I"m not too sure what to do with him.

You all think you miss a lot in a day, try missing about a week

I managed to be on some last Monday. On Wednesday, was barely able to move but managed to log on to deal with a couple of things via PM.

Have been sick, stung by bees, and just totally out of it. Today I finally feel like I have returned to the land of the living

I will try to catch up on posts soon, maybe tomorrow evening. Still weak and extremely tired.

Edited because I cannot spell nor did I make much sense.....
