I have been wondering where you were! I figured the heat had gotten to you! Goodness knows it is doing a number on me this year.
I hope you are much better now!

Oh Yancy! Say it isn't so! How can she be so sick after deworming? Or was that a secondary problem or primary and now the other sick is secondary?
OMG, how can we all be losing so many birds? I know the heat is bad but it seems it is one right after the other. Maybe because we all have so many? This is just crazy!
And yet, none of my extra roos fall over! Oh, no! They live the life of Riley and my hens are the ones that feel crummy.

Yancy, Pum Pum is in my prayers! I know she is so special to you.

Thank you! It is a LOT better today.....It is wonderful what being pumped with antibiotics and fluids can do!!

I am so tired of dripping sweat off my face! I am counting down these weeks til cooler temps. Five more weeks, folks! Just 5 more hotter than blazes, sweat swamping weeks until we get a change.

I'll hatch us out some cute little bug eating babies! These are not like chicken eggs though. These take a month to cook! Do you have any broody girls you would like to set some of these under before I load them all in the 'bator?

We are beginning to think Lucy, our Silkie, is being shunned by the flock. We had our suspicions a couple of weeks ago, but Lou Ann caught them in action. She took watermelon out this morning. Everyone came running, yet when Lucy got to it, they crowded her out. There was more than one piece, but she couldn't get to any of them. Any suggestions? We are going to take her out by herself tonight for awhile and give her a few treats.

I have never put my Silkies with my other chickens. Those and my Sally Favors (Faverolles) always got pushed aside. I have a pen (okay a few) of just laid back Silkies. Sizzles and a Serama do live with some and I toss chicks in there to grow up among nice birds quite often. And most often, my Silkies keep and raise what they hatch.

I think you need more than one Silkie and they need their own place.
