Haha I JUST emailed her for eggs!!! Yup Scarlet is still not taking no for an answer. Can I come pick up eggs after work on Wendesday? Probably just 4-6ish...to start

What colors you'd get?

If the eggs are here by Wed. then sure! They should be but you know how the delivery system can be sometimes.
Ah, the colors will be a surprise for all of us but I have my fingers crossed on some light, bright ones! Although I am sure the darker ones do better free ranging.
I am not complaining about what we are getting!

I hope you guys get a good hatch. The nest I took your eggs from is being managed by a Royal Purple and a Coral Blue, but there was a buff hanging around today also--I can see it from my kitchen window so I have been watching to see if they were going to desert it now that the top half of eggs were missing. The hen guineas line up in the morning at the nests waiting for their turn to lay. I have not seen which males go with these birds as that makes a difference in colors too. You should get an interesting hatch.

Thanks to Amy and RedBug for the help yesterday

Big Daddy Roo is still alive, but about the same condition, not moving around and his comb- though not as pale as yesterday- has turned purple on the top half. I was able to make a slurry out of yogurt this morning and get some down him. Then this afternoon I put a can of moist cat food in the food processor and made it runny enough to go through a syringe and he got about 5cc of that. Stuff coming out the other end of him has absolutely no color that I can see, it's all clear. I went ahead and gave him some Sulmet. I figured couldn't hurt and if I loose him then I know I tried Absolutely everything I could.

For those who didn't know, Big Daddy Roo was on the way to freezer camp because of infertility issues. But he is my DH's favorite chicken out of all of them, so he had an advocate to keep him around a bit longer.

And so now," I"- the one who wanted to turn him into chicken n dumplings when he was still healthy- am the one sitting on my knees every hour and trying to "spoon feed" this rooster back to health. I'm afraid if he dies, my husband will look at me with suspicion for weeks!

I meant to text you and see how Big Daddy Roo was doing and got caught up in house cleaning after the morning egg shipping event. I am glad he is still hanging in there!
I will keep my fingers crossed for him!

Quick Update: a tiny ray of sun...Ever since sunday morning I started dissolving Niacin(500mg flush free) Selenium(50mcg) Iron(65mg) in some pedilyte. (I'm really trying anything now). Then given her oral 3cc straight to her crop. Once that morning then that night, then this morning and just a few minutes ago. Late last night she made her way to the food bowl and water bowl and she ate. Today she has eaten alot more and cleaned herself. And is standing up and walking in short little brust. HOPEFULLY either she was anemic or the niacin or the selenium or the pedilyte is helping her. Either way I'm gonna keep doing it til....one way or the other.! Once again

oh and on top of it all bless her heart she's starting to molt or is losing her feathers due to weakness.

Oh and not to forget the other babies...They have now also discovered that the french doors that are on the deck Usually means "Crazy man inside will bring us something to snack on" and I do...

Of course, I may think so because that was the first solid food I have eaten in about 9 days. I did start eating a little broth off of chicken noodle soup a couple of days ago.

Although I have gotten to spend my week last week indoors, it was not a fun week.

This week, I am stronger but still on limited duties according to the family until I can eat and get my strength up. (The steak is in the fridge waiting with my steamed veggies - I may try a little later)

We have a pekin with bumblefoot

DD & I worked on it a little tonight. It was severe, and looks a LOT better now (50% reduced in size than it was)

And I lost a silkie rooster today.........heat I guess....no obvious damage, just laying on the ground

Ah well.........first loss to the heat. Rather it be a roo than a hen.

I may move them all to the basement

So Monday is Feed Store day, when I go buy my chicken food for the week. And there seems to be a common comment that I get. I always hear "You must have a LOT of chickens"!

Doesn't everybody buy a jeep load of food every week?
