And that is a GREAT price. Are you sure you're not just down the road from Bamburg? I would gladly pay $4 each and buy all you have. AND share with Amy (who by the way surely seems to be happy with these guineas she didn't really want to start with).

Joy, I just did a mapquest--do you mean Bamberg? If so it is a long ways from me--it is just below Columbia so we are talking a couple of hours still down to my part of the world. I wish it was closer-- these keets would go in a road trip but with a two year old I do not wonder that far from home very often. Darn!!!

Not sure of the spelling but I would think that is the same place. It's not really near Columbia, my husband drove at least 2 hours past Columbia. He had a 3 1/2 hour drive home (that's how long it takes us to get to Edisto from here). We're 1 1/2 hours from Columbia. Oh well, one of these days. How far are you from Edisto/Beaufort?

Jackie B. :

Hey ya'll,

We've got a new grocery store/cafe going up on the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville that only sourcing local products and they're looking for more egg wholesalers! My 2 dozen a week ain't gonna cut it, so if you've got your wholesales/retail egg licensce (SP) and are interested in selling more eggs, PM me and I'll pass along their information.

I have been meaning to ask about this, but keep forgetting. Where on the trail will the store be? Sounds exciting!

I was there but home now for a nap! I think I saw some of you but I didn't really say hi. I had the two Cochins, the Easter Egger, the serama, and two doves. Sold the doves and three large fowl. Not the serama though. Brought home some eggs from Jackie and an ameracauna chick. And last minute I noticed the sultans next to farmer John (?) where the guy had a bunch of stuff. And I thought they were neat so I have a sultan pullet!

Sure! Rub my nose in it, will ya!? I want to go to the beach so bad but with this many animals.....<sigh>

Yancy, I hope you are getting a great tan, enjoying the beach breeze and have a few umbrellas under your belt, er....I mean a few drinks under your belt. Save the umbrellas for the chicks! Keep your eyes on the surf and sand and not on some hot bathing suits walking past!

Your dad is going to be so happy when you get home! He may like your chickens well enough but caring for them this whole time may make him glad you have them and not him!

Joy says it isn't too hard to get the license and they don't go poking their nose into stuff on your farm so I may get mine and see about moving some duck eggs. Once my new girls get into laying I will once again have them coming out my ears. Last winter and spring I was ready to quack from eating so many and of course, the folks at the Food Pantry were very happy to get them but I need to sell them to buy more feed to help the girls make more eggs.
With 38 female ducks I think I will gather a few every day. For some reason local people do not think ducks eggs would be good. I sample them out when I remember so people can share the goodness of another species that lays delicious eggs.

I thought about them, the Sultans but got the black, white crested polish for my mom. 2 pair. got them home and in a pen in quarantine from everyone else.. how long do i have to keep them separated before they can go outside with the other kids.. although my big kids are already curious about them and Im sure will have them looked over by afternoon. smarty pants that they are.

I had one of my little unknown black pullets (Weezy < lauise> ) acting weird when I got home. she was laying down in the dirt. didn't find that weird until she stood up .. she acted drunk she was leaning to one side wobbling when she tried to walk, then plopped down? I think the heat got to her.. so I had a little bowl I filled it with water and sat her feet first right down in the water and then did a light spray all over her and under her wings. she was very hot to the touch the water cooled her down and holdiong her she just laid her little head on my chest and sighed,, People cant tell me that animals including chickens cant feel or show some emotions.. and I have her in the utility room in the handy dandy box I got the polish in..

I hope everyone got home safe and found something new.. It was great meeting yall and Sam we will need to get together some time

smiles to all
Pink
