I have been meaning to ask about this, but keep forgetting. Where on the trail will the store be? Sounds exciting!

Joy says it isn't too hard to get the license and they don't go poking their nose into stuff on your farm so I may get mine and see about moving some duck eggs. Once my new girls get into laying I will once again have them coming out my ears. Last winter and spring I was ready to quack from eating so many and of course, the folks at the Food Pantry were very happy to get them but I need to sell them to buy more feed to help the girls make more eggs.
With 38 female ducks I think I will gather a few every day. For some reason local people do not think ducks eggs would be good. I sample them out when I remember so people can share the goodness of another species that lays delicious eggs.

I think people dont think about ducks eggs, I personally have never had a duck egg.. not that I wouldn't, I just haven't. I guess too I didnt realize they lay as many eggs as chickens..

Joy, I just did a mapquest--do you mean Bamberg? If so it is a long ways from me--it is just below Columbia so we are talking a couple of hours still down to my part of the world. I wish it was closer-- these keets would go in a road trip but with a two year old I do not wonder that far from home very often. Darn!!!

Not sure of the spelling but I would think that is the same place. It's not really near Columbia, my husband drove at least 2 hours past Columbia. He had a 3 1/2 hour drive home (that's how long it takes us to get to Edisto from here). We're 1 1/2 hours from Columbia. Oh well, one of these days. How far are you from Edisto/Beaufort?

We are about 45 minutes from Beaufort--that I know!

Lou Ann and I didn't buy anything, but our friend April bought a splash Wyandotte chick and two BLRW chicks. She also bought 10 hatching eggs to put under her broody hen. We came home and she took our Silkie, Lucy, to live at her house since she has a Silkie pen and Lucy was quickly getting outgrown by our big girls. We now know not to mix Silkies with the big gals.
When I was getting Lucy, I noticed that Harriet, our Ameraucana pullet has suddenly got a pretty bad cross beak. It didn't look like this a few days ago, I'm almost positive. Going to look at some pics of her and also check her out in a little while.

There were some beautiful wyandottes there. If I didn't already have some I would have brought home some. I actually got some from Jackie about a month ago. Two of the lighter ones. They're beautiful! I have a hen and a roo. So far mine are gentle birds

It was great getting to meet some of y'all today at the swap! I sold one of my roosters..yay! And I bought a little pair of B.B. Red Bantams. They are too cute!

Here's duke:

It cried the whole drive home.

And the sultan

I like the sultan. She's laid back. Though I doubt she's been handled much she doesn't panic when I pick her up. And she is just...gentle.

I've got to come up with some sort of regal name for her.

Awwww! I hope nice things were said about me. I hated to think of all the fun you all were having as I was sweating here with plenty of customers. I sold all I set out to today so I am a happy camper.
I doubt very seriously I would leave the farm to sell any birds. It is easier and more cost efficient to stay here and and have folks come here to buy. Besides, I don't want to drive 2 hours with a van, truck or anything else with pooping birds.

I did miss meeting everyone though. We had a blast at the Morganton show last Feb. meeting and chatting with everyone. I will probably go to stuff like that. I am sure I will go to the November show down in Clemson.
