Decided I'd take a few pics of my roos out in the barn and share

Here's Tiger my BLRW. I thought he was black...but I see some blue in this pic..maybe it's just the flash (this guy was from eggs I got from Amy Nadine)

This is a blue orpington I hatched from eggs I got from Mary (Southern Bee Lady)

Not sure what went wrong with this guy..lol..he's so goofy looking. He's a blue copper marans hatched from eggs from Amy Nadine. I call him floppy bc of his silly comb

On another note, I had a huge scare today. I let my mostly indoor cat walk out to the barn today. She got in the pasture with the donkeys and our horse while we were feeding and watering and almost got her little butt stomped by the donks. Scared me to death. My neighbors probably think I'm crazy...running around the pasture screaming and waving my arms around at my donkeys. She's not the brightest kitty in the bunch (which is why she stays inside)...and couldn't figure out that she could easily fit right through the fence. She got away from them though, thank goodness and all is well. The most annoying part is DH was standing there laughing the whole time. He's not too fond of my cats.

btw: the orpington and "Floppy" the silly looking Blue Copper Marans are going to need to find new homes...any takers??? (I know y'all all prob have more roos than you need already but figured I'd try

Hope everyone's had a great day!

I GOT 3 more babies today that ACTUALLY hatched out!!!! I'm Shocked cause the mom got off the nest two days ago and only sat at night with her one and only chick that was from an egg I thought was wayyyy to old to hatch. Geesh I was all wrong!!!!! Thank goodness!!!
SO here's another BlueJGxBuffOrp aka Brown Chick#2

And I'm pretty sure this is a BlueJGxBarred Rock (cause the chick looks just like my barred rocks when i got them)

AND to my Surprise I GOT a Blue Baby!!!!
Think it's BlueJGxBarredRock cause of the lite spot on the top of its head. It hatched only about 2 hours before the camera came out. Which Momma hen has started letting me take good pictures...with out trying to fight me. Somewhat!

I'm super happy that the one chick has others to growup with!!!! This is an awesome experience for me since this is a first for me!!!! I

Nikky,
I only had 4 to hatch from your eggs but they are fabulous babies! Today is their first day outside in a little pen. I had to hold them and cuddle a bit before they would go explore but they soon forgot all about me and are having a blast playing and eating grass.
They are all totally gorgeous! I think I have 2 boys and 2 girls. Two appear to be black, one looks like it will be blue (I have been fooled before though) and the other seems fawn/white. Nice, upright kids! And very tame and friendly. They groom my face for me and are bad to pinch my nose and eyes but it is fun to snuggle them while I can.
I am sure someone else would have gotten a better hatch but I am not too great with hatching duck eggs. I keep learning though.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Nikky or Nikki? I didn't think my eggs were due to hatch?!?!

Nikky is gofasterstripe. She has Runner ducks. Well, she has ducks, they may not all be Runners but a lot of them are.

Awesome on the chickas! How great for you and the hen.
The blue one is probably a pullet from your BR hen. Blue roo over barred often makes blue chicks. I am hoping the gender is correct. I should really pay more attention when my chicks hatch out and grow up.

The BLRW turned out nice! :DThe Marans has me puzzled, too!

OMG! I have cats like your girl and a DH just like yours. Well, I don't know....after all these years he is more likely to help than laugh because he doesn't want to get into trouble.
I have lost so many Siamese beauties to letting them outside for fresh air and sunshine I finally keep mine locked up. Sad but they are not bright. I even have 2 tortoiseshells in the house that are not too bright. I have lost too many cats to horses hooves so now the barn cats are the only ones outside.

I thought the BLRW turned out really nice too

I'm going to put him with my splash BLRW pullet eventually..but he is HUGE compared to her right now I'm scared he'd really do a number on her. I'm thinking once I finish converting an old building we have into a coop I'll need to get me a couple more BLRW girls.

Lroach I'd be interested in the Maran roo. I've been thinking about gettiing some Marans for dark eggs but I could try to mate yours to my Dominiques and see if I can get a dark egg layer that way. Anyone done that. Cross a Maran with a Dominique? If you did how did the cross turn out?

That is crazy! I've got WHL and I've never had any color other than white hatch out. AND I've never had a color egg other than brown. But I think that is just a product of that game we call "the gene pool." Something will always find its way out..eventually. Do you have and pics of them or your birds? I'm not doubting you at all. I just like pics and it helps sometimes

So your leghorns lay BROWN eggs? Because everything I've read says they should lay large, white eggs (and mine do). I've been told there is a strain that lays brown eggs but haven't been able to find them. I might have to get some from you. If I'd known my own chicks would start laying brown eggs I would have kept them.
