Brooder bags? Barn Chores? No barn here, and our chicks aren't a yr old yet. But I do have 2 huge compost bins. I find worms here and there...some go in to the compost...some go..into the chickens

They fight over that treat!!

Right now, we are trying to get the people house fixed up for another winter. Last winter we froze. Found out, we are severely lacking in insulation. Duh...no wonder...>>shakes head<<<

I tried lights one year and it did not work for me. I got the same amount as the winter before without lights.
I hear people rave about how many eggs they get through the winter but my shed of Silkies and bantam Cochins live in the shed without any extra lights and they lay great all winter. My free range flock goes in spurts. They lay well for about 6 weeks then back off for about 4 and then plow forward for another 6 weeks and look for spring.

I did not use lights last year and that's what happened to me. They only slowed down for a few weeks around November then were back at it. I won't be using them again probably.

Hope all chickens do well.

Love the sign, Susanne!

I was going to comment on something else - but forgot what......
