Amazingly enough Guinea Girl and keets cooped up with Guinea Boy in the chicken coop tonight. I guess they got sick of sleeping out in the rain when Guinea Boy was dry and snug.

Yancy, can't wait for you and Jackie to come tomorrow. I get very lonely around here.

I moved the d'Uccles over to another tractor today after moving a white bantam Cochin trio out. I moved the extra d'Uccle roos up to the A frame tractor once I moved the Sizzles to another tractor. It's shuffle time!

I still need to do more moving but I can only do so much in one day and still have to finish the roof on the duck coop. A never ending job on a farm! I think I will let it dry out a bit before I use electrical tools in the wet grass.

Who all on here is going to the Morganton show on Oct 29th?
I am pretty sure Chickychickybaby is going but so many others are headed to Crossroads that weekend. I plan to take some stuff to sell and I know DH is planning on going because he is saving his coins so he can buy more birds.....for me to take care of!

Hey, thanks alot. First good thing to happen today for me. I had to drive down to Atlanta today. I'm still stressed out after having to deal with the traffic. It was only seven years ago I worked for Delta Air lines in ATL. I have no idea how I did it. It rather be shot at dawn then do that again. But please do add me. I may be able to help you or someone else sell some chicks also. The friends I visited were very interested in my chickens and plan to visit and see my set up. I told them about the different types of birds and how fresh home grown eggs are much better for you. They both have pets for years and I do not think they could kill a chicken for meat so I really did not touch on that side of it Baby steps first I figured and hopefully I'll convert a couple more people to the Chichen Club. Thanks again. Hope every one has a great weekend. I think I'm going to watch Clemson and just forget about the rest of the world for the whole weekend myself. Now to make a cup of fresh tea and honey. Donald

I will add you to my Spring 2012 waiting list so I won't forget to let you know. It helps me remember what I need to hatch too.

Amy, how do you do it? Keep up with all those bird? I do not have any where close to what you have and it is all I can do to keep up with them! Well, I do have a 2 1/2 year old daughter running around here too that I have to keep up with--of course she would love to be in the middle of the chicken if I would let her--more....

And coop, I need more coops!! Boy, I can not wait until we start tearing down that back deck!

I'm not sure how I do it all except by the grace of God!

Up at dawn, in bed by midnight (though with it getting dark sooner I keep hoping to make it by 10 pm). My family do not make too many demands on me so that helps. I don't cook or clean house much. I work, work and do more work. I love the farm life and am glad to do it every day. Anything so I don't have to go back to office work! Before working in a vet clinic I worked on horse farms so I love being outside. Hard work has never hurt me (but housework does!

When my DD was 2 I did a lot more in the house then. She never cared to be outside much. I would drag her out and let her play on her little jungle gym while I fed dogs and cared for the kennels but we only had about 18 dogs so it did not take too long. She never cared to go and play in the barn. When I was a kid, my parents could not keep me inside. I keep wondering how I went wrong with the DD! If she did not look so much like me I would swear she wasn't my own.

I guess the rains are over for now. I hope everyone enjoys a gorgeous day!
I am headed back outside to do more work. The rains messed up a few tractors. I suppose I need to fix some roofs.

I know this is off topic, but I figured many of you would be interested.

I have a "Roohen".
My kids don't like the idea if me butchering chickens. They secretly placed an egg in the separation pen, where I place the birds to be processed. They hoped I would be fooled into thinking the rooster was a hen. Eight years of law enforcement gave me just a little intuition that something was not quite right. So, after some questioning techniques (water-boarding LOL), I got the full story. Life goes on. I had to laugh.
