Hi CDB and welcome to your changed life! I am new too and new to chickens but I got hooked really fast. Started with a free old rooster and 4 old hens (only 2 still lay) dropped off in my yard. They stayed and free-roamed and I became infatuated. One old hen just hatched 4 chicks and is she really a good mother! I have added some since I started in August. I have learned so much just by reading posts here and this site is very informative AND friendly. Everyone here is soo nice. So, just dig in and dig around. Glad you found this site and again, WELCOME!
Gotta go hunting again starting tomorrow night just after 8 p.m. Just went to back door to look out and viola! Another dang skunk eating on my back porch from the outside cat's food bowl!!!

Nope, still no eggs but I don't have them in the best pen for her to lay. Though while the weather was nice they were out in grass but today they stayed inside the coop in their wire cage and were PO'd at me. I got the "bird" a lot when I went in there. Once i get the rabbit hutch cleaned up that will be their night time pen and they can go out in the wire cages during the day to play.

Adorable! You would probably know if the father was a Polish. I am betting the spiffy Sebright was the dad. The Polish is probably still trying to find the hen!
That Sebright was probably quick and the Polish never knew what was going on!
That one black chick in the back looks like it has a white dot on it's head. Wonder if it will be barred. What color is your Polish and your Sebright?
