You gettum'! What a smart shot you are!

Jolie had the stench of skunk on her last week. Gosh, she was ripe for a while and that was after I had trimmed all the nasty off her rump so it was definitely skunk. She probably walked down in the woods NEAR where one was because otherwise I would still smell her.

I did candle the 18 d'Uccle eggs from the breeder last night. I lost a MF egg and a Porcelain egg but otherwise they are growing great.

Jackie.....too early yet! Don't text me about yours!

Somehow I could see your fingers on the keys!

Adorable! You would probably know if the father was a Polish. I am betting the spiffy Sebright was the dad. The Polish is probably still trying to find the hen!

That Sebright was probably quick and the Polish never knew what was going on!

That one black chick in the back looks like it has a white dot on it's head. Wonder if it will be barred. What color is your Polish and your Sebright?

The Polish is WCB and the Sebright is silver. The weird thing is that I never see this sebright hanging around the bantam hens. Another weird thing: all roosters were penned, only my four bantam hens were out. So they would have had to fly in the run to mate then fly back out to lay eggs? Determined little things

LOL
I had a Boston Terrier like that once. She would get into any pen with any male when she wanted bred. We finally just had her spayed so we could keep up with the heathen. Though all our males were champions, we still liked to breed close to the standard. She needed a specific male and she didn't care who it was!
Your hen is a floozy!

But look what a good mama she is being. I guess she really wanted to be a mom and had to insure that somehow. Not knowing enough about the Polish I would still guess the Sebright but your little hen might have been in a Rock Star mood and gone for the Polish guy!

Ah, with those colors it still doesn't help with the black chicks. Both can produce black. I was hoping to help with coloring the chicks but alas that won't be the way.
They will be cuties no matter what.

Yeah but you should hear the story behind the first skunk...and the need for febreeze...and lysol....and bleach....LOL

Last weekend, we decided (well, my husband did) to shine the spotlight off the back deck. In five minutes, we saw four coons, two deer and a coyote wandering around the pasture bold as you please. I asked him to please turn it off! I went back in thankful that I have any chickens with all those predators milling about. Well, not the deer. They can stay!

I do love to see the deer. They sometimes eat anything and everything I leave out for the chickens but they are still beautiful and don;t mind too much.
The other predators can beat it! Amscray!
