Here are my latest addition to the OEGB flock! I think the rooster and hen finally got it right! These are looking BBRed like they should but they are shy little babies--Not happy about their debut!!

If you remember the first oegb bbred chick was a mystery. Its eggs was laid the day after I purchased the pair and it is unknow who the hen was in with before I got her. This is him/her with big sibling cochin and silkie. The cochin was hatched the day after the oegb chick!!

I do love these little birds!! My BBRed hen has only laid 2 more eggs and they are developing in the incubator. I might get a flock one egg at a time!!

Oh, my marans eggs are due to hatch tomorrow!!! I will keep you informed on the event!!

Sounds delicious! I don't ethically or morally have an issue with eating my chickens. I just don't want to make it happen. If someone delivered it to me all nice and packaged, I'd eat it in a heartbeat!

So good and bad news on my rooster.

His swelling is possibly adema the vet said after we weighed him. A month ago he was 5.4 pounds. Today he is 3.6. He thinks that my roo is on his final weeks of life unless we can get him back on his feet asap. His swelling in his face could be a direct result from just the cocci killing him! So good that it's not cholera, but sad sad for mister toffee.

Hi

I miss everyone!

For those that do not know - I pretty much run two households including the healthcare of my FIL. Last month we had 7 appointments, and 8 scheduled for this month.

I have been losing birds - do not know what is getting them, but they are missing - about a dozen right now.

I go to my mom's once a week and clean her house or just spend time with her - I am really enjoying that!

My hands have been full.

Right now, I don't even see me making any shows this year, not even to just walk around. Silkies are molting, so they are raggedy!

Good news, I did get a day's vacation LOL - DH's job gave him tickets to last Saturday's Nascar race. We got to go free! They provided pit passes, food, drinks, everything. Was my first (and my last - that stuff is expensive) race ever.

Hope everyone is well.

I have to catch up on my housework today - looks like a tornado came through here which is nothing new, but I have got to get stuff put up and thrown out - too much stuff & no room to walk!

I hope when I take a couple of breaks I can pop on and catch up on posts!

-Kimberly

White. They turn black at about 6 months. At least mine do.

Edited to add that the boys start out white and turn black. The girls stay creamy white.

You have a lot on your plate right now! Sorry you're losing birds. Are they disappearing from coop/run or just out and about? I hate predators. Glad you got to go to the race though! Did you like it? I've been to a few and absolutely hated it. Dirty and boring. But I'm probably in the minority!
