So cute!!! No, I will not get into bantams, I will not. So cute!!!!!

they only count as half a chicken when laying...and eat less...and are cuter...and cuddlier...and more fit in the same space...lol

Awe so precious! What a smile on her! LOL Really cute picture!

Went to the Morganton show today. It was really neat to see all the different birds. I showed a lot of restraint and didn't buy anything other than a new wire cage I can use to transport chickies in the future. BUT if I had gotten what I wanted to I would've come home with some Splash Ameraucanas, a pair of Creole OEGB, and an ADOREABLE trio of Mille Fleur D'anvers. I can't stop thinking about them now! I took a bunch of pictures so I thought I'd share.

lots of cages! I was kind of suprised that most all the birds there were bantams. I saw very few standards

such a pretty ride home!

on another note...finally got some of my chicken chores done! I decided to pretend I don't have a ton of schoolwork to do and worked on my coops instead! (with the wonderful help of my DH!)

new nesting box for the girls. It was my father-in-law's and just needed some new rivets..they could all have their own box with room to spare now!

Major progress on the storage shed turned coop!

OMG! Look at those faces! You can see they want attention! And yes, they grow up so fast!

My little white hasn't laid at all but I put them out in a grassy pen during the day and in a hutch inside the brooder coop at night so that may mess her up enough that she won't lay. I have not seen Toby do anything with her but every time I reach for her she squats! Too funny! I am sure she will start soon but I don't care since I do not want to hatch this time of year.

Awesome! Great photos! I so missed going today to the show but it was so nasty and cold this morning and the wind got so rough after 8 am. It looks like there were a lot of entries, I think they said over 800, which is terrific! There are always more bantams at shows. They are much easier to haul around.

I don't see how you could restrain yourself from buying any of those birds. I am at least a bit more rich because DH didn't go today. He wants more, more, more EEs and Ameraucanas. I sell way too many each year and he wants to keep the farm filled up with them. I had a hard time convincing him back in Feb. when we went to this show that a turkey would not fit in our little rental car!
Good for you that you held back....for now.

Great job on the shed conversion! It is really nice!
And the nest boxes are great. I have the same ones and have enjoyed them for years. Er...rather, the girls love them!

I agree with Amy Nadine, how did you not get some of those adorable chickens.. love the silkies... and cool shed conversion.. I wish I was so talented to do that handy work..

did you see any or many showgirls? what kind of prices were they going for?

There were some showgirls but I didn't see any for sale. I think there were silkie chicks going for around $10 but they were obviously from good stock and the best ones I saw there. I promised myself before I went that I wouldn't buy anything until I finished getting coops built for what I have. I have 2 call ducks, a pair of bbred oegb, a blrw roo and a mix breed hen out in my barn that all need permanent homes. Luckily the shed/coop we've been working on is going to house some of them. I just have to figure out how I want to do the duck's coop. Then I'll be getting me some more chickies! I seriously am kicking myself over the D'anvers though. They were gorgeous..wish I'd gotten the guy's name at least so I could get some later!

Pink - how did you get this post?

It is the very first post for the SC thread from 2009. I often wonder who Enola is as I haven't seen her post here since I've been here. I wonder how many chickens she has now and if she ever got that new pup.
