Beautiful picture! The weather was so nice today. Every morning when I left the house this week its been right at freezing or a little below, though...I wasn't made for those cold temps! lol I'll definately take working outside in the cold to being in the extreme heat we had this summer though!

I love to see the sky reflected in the water. So beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

I need to get in the kitchen now and cut up deer and put away in the freezer. Our DD's boyfriend brought us most of one after a friend shot one yesterday. After they cleaned it and starting cutting it up they realized they had no room for it in their freezer! Hallelujah for us since DH lost his job on Friday. Between the deer, ducks and chicken we may have food for a while.

So sorry about the job! That stinks. I admire you for doing that deer. I like venison. But only if it shows up already processed!

I love the picture of the trees making that canopy. So pretty! The birds are cute too.

got a question.. when we went to the chcikenswap in nc. I got a little red EE pullet.. she was little and you could tell she was a young'un... well had her a while now and she is still little bitty.. she looks correct. she has her ear muffs and her little beard.. big girl feathers. ( not laying)

question is.. could she be a EE bantam? do they make them.. maybe roo was a bantam .. is that physically possible? or little hen big roo?

shes is cute as a button.. and only a bit bigger than my bb bantams.

Thanks, Susanne.
DH has been laid off several times in the last few years. I pray he lands on his feet again. We do not really have many bills to pay but the mortgage always worries us. What if he doesn't get a job for a while? There is only so far savings can go. But we feel blessed and we have survived a lot of bad times in the 31+ years we have been married. Chicken farming sure would be more fun if he brought in big bucks!
Speaking of which....
It has been a lot of years since I saw Dad cut up a deer. This was a little one so not so bad. It seemed a lot easier since I had many years in the veterinary field. Doing amputations and working with muscle and bone really paid off this time around. We have a lot of meat from it to put up now. I cut out the tenderloin part (my fav!) and I cut the ribs out for grilling (DH's fav!) and the rest went for roasts and stews. It is something nice to have the freezer besides chicken. We wanted to do the ducks this weekend but we can't find paraffin wax anywhere. I guess we can use duct tape instead!

Hate it about the DH! Hope all works out! "You Go Girl!" on that deer! Number one for scoring some deer meat and number two for tackling cleaning it! Nam e you Awesome Amy! LOL

Now a dumb question...I don't have ducks and don't "think" I will but...what on earth do you need the parafin for?
