Wyandottes have a rosecomb, her's looks normal to me. The buff orps are very slow to mature. The slowest birds I've had to mature, but my blue orps are the only ones that are laying really great right now. They are wonderful layers in cold weather.

If no one else starts laying this winter, then they may at least! I love it when they fluff all their feathers up. I saw them do that yesterday. I am determined to catch a picture of them doing it. Reminds me of a chicken with a fur coat on!

Your Wyandotte looks normal to me. Like another poster said it's supposed to be a rose comb so technically your other one has the wrong comb. That's where the confusion is coming in. I have a Wyandotte pair and my hen has the wrong comb.

Isn't it funny that the cats were there and did that? Of course, the feathers and wings flapping made them excited, I am sure. They know chickens are off limits and I have quite a few Silkie chicks running loose but they do not bother them. The cats actually belong to the neighbor but he is on some heavy medication and is in and out of the mental hospital so he doesn't take very good care of them. They find great meals over here with mice and wild birds that come to the food dishes.

And where was Jolie during this? Sleeping about 20 feet away. Never knew it even happened. I really need another one so when one is napping the other can watch.
However, the cats were in the right place at the right time and gave me some entertainment. They never bother the d'Uccles either but you can bet that hawk will watch where it swoops down to in the future! It was a small hawk so I guess the cats thought it was just another fluttery little bird.

Oh, the times I wish I had my video camera going!

Ok yall we have moved to page 2. Everyone must be busy with Christmas plans. Since I have purchased these incubators I have found that I need bigger ones. I cant seem to stay away from the auctions. My Family is begining to get worried. I told them it was not a problem. That this is normal, it will pass.

Same happened with me, I started with one little styrofoam bator, moved up to 3 of them before buying a big cabinet incubator. Now have 2 cabinet incubators (both running, both with chicks hatching). So, you're on a "normal" course for chicken addicts.
