Thanks EmptyNester and Susanne! I was not looking forward to having naked bottom silkies running around! They are so cute and funny and I love them. Just waiting on egg action. They are between 6 and 8 months I think. I have a pair of white and a pair of black. They share a coop/pen so not sure what I would get from the mix. It will be a learning experience. I would love to visit Susanne soon to maybe pick up some pointers on silkies and maybe come home with more variety!

Forgot to mention this before...but I know there were a couple people trying to get a start in Dominiques. I found some for sale in the Market Bulletin. Not sure of quality, etc but the info is : 4 Dominique pullets and 1 rooster, 7 months old, $40. Joe Culbertson Greenwood 864-229-5254. I figure he wouldn't mind his info being on here since it's already posted in the bulletin

Just have to see if I can beg DH enough so I can get some!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! It's verrry cold here tonight! Such weird weather...it's been almost springlike during the days recently but tonight it is freezing out. We had some definite coyote activity close to the house last night. I've never heard them that loudly. It was about 11:30 pm. I had the tv on and still heard them over it. Every dog in the area went nuts...scary. Anyways, I hope everyone has a great week before Christmas. I'll be busy busy working all week and trying to squeeze in family time as well!

p.s. what do y'all think about this as an enclosure for call ducks? I found this pic here on BYC and DH approved. I think I'd split it in half so I can have 2 colors. May also try to put a little broody pen on the back side big enough to keep a cochin or silkie to help me raise ducklings.. any suggestions for duck housing will be appreciated. My white call duck pair lives in our barn for the time being. I'd like to have something built for them by springtime though. I'm especially unsure about how I want their "pond" to be. We really want them to have as natural of an enclosure as possible. We aren't as concerned about breeding as we are about giving them a good quality of life
