I have contacted a few folks recently wanting to place LGDs but no one responds. I don't think they want their dogs to go to a home where they actually have to work. LOL

we had a dachsund when my oldest son was small. that dog whent everwhere with my son as he grew up. when my son was just beginning to walk good that dog would watch him and if thought he was going somewhere he should not she would grab him by the seat of his pants and hold him til someone came to resuce him.her name was prissy and we had her until my son was 14 years old then a mean neighbor posioned her.Dacsunds are very smart dogs they will also kill rattlesnakes.

So nice to hear that your Prissy lived a long time. I hate to hear about stupid neighbors though. I am glad this breed gets along with kids. At least, I know Roxy came from a home with kids and was good with them. I guess some bloodlines may not be good with kids but these seem to be good family dogs. My niece has had a good many of them and I had one about 30 years ago.

Got the ultrasound pics yesterday!!!!!And holy cow it's a boy! Still can't believe how, er, much you can see at 12 weeks. Whit Cleveland Blackwell is measuring 13 weeks though so my due date is July 4th. Oh geeze.

Well, hopefully if he comes on the 4th, the hospital won't be too crowded! Just think - he will get fireworks EVERY year!

yes they are very good with kids and very sweet tempered. our prissy even had her puppies in the middle of my sons bed. needless to say that was one happy but surprized boy when he woke that morning.
 
Yeah, DD looked at the neighbors house where they have a little Yorkie male and said, "Hmmmm, wonder what those pups would look like?" I said, "No way, now how, nu-uh!" and a couple of other choice words in there. I think I got my message across!
