I understood that once you gave them heat in the winter, then you had to continue heating them until Spring. Do you find otherwise?

So once they get big enough, they can roam around like the guineas? Where do yours sleep? My guineas have decided to sleep onto of the chicken runs. Unfortunately I have plastic netting on most of them and they keep busting it in. We're going to recover with strong wire!

Mine broke the door to Nicoles Duck pen that has her mallards in it....they get on that then fly up HIGH into a tree. Most nights.

Mine just wander the yard....they are both about 9 or 10 months old. They go all over our little acre & the neighbors acre too

Trust me that turkey poop in the front yard is YUCKY.... but the dog loves it

From what I have seen though, most people raise them like chickens and have runs and such for them.

If I had more than 2 - I would get DH to build me a pen.

Really - I always sound like I just throw birds out to roam the yard. I don't always.

Just most of the time that is where extra roos hang out .... and my silver spangled hamburg hens too. They prefer to be loose.

None go far....I just step on the deck and one sees me and calls so everyone comes running. It is like a big ambush!

We just have the two Jersey buffs and we are protective of them until we get fertilized eggs (we hope in the spring) Ours are in the barn at night and we walk them out to a pen during the day. check out postings on the turkey forum, they are big nosey chickens with a better chance of running a hawk off. They will try to help out wherever they can't possibly be helpful. the ones we are most interested would be considered endangered if they were wild animals. I think i may have posted a couple of pictures here, but on page 39 of the heratage breed turkey forum are a couple of pictures.

If you ARE interested, contact Kris and i'm sure we can get up an order. I talked to porters today and they would ship early June.

We are hoping to order Monday. Could wait a couple more days if needed
