Had a huge long story written up and it deleted itself.

Long story short. I had sand delivered yesterday and while preparing for its arrival I found a huge white egg. I thought my husband was playing a trick on me because my hens haven't laid since late summer. Well, just to be sure I went on an egg hunt and found a second smaller egg and then as I was about to walk in my garage my barred rock comes running from under the porch and I see this:



That little stinker!!! She's been stashing eggs! And just to prove a point she went back over there after I collected these and proceeded to lay another.

So...my hens are laying again!

Who laid the white egg? I have a White Leghorn I think is the culprit. But I also have two EE and BLRW hen.

I put all 6 eggs in the incubator. Also, will these chicks be sex-linked if the father is a RIR red mix and the mom is a barred rock?

Yes, this was from the wheaten pen. My blue and black pen hasn't started laying yet, though I have one older blue lady in there that should come back on line soon. I have seen Billy Bob doing his duty so when she starts laying again I will set her eggs since she is a hen and not a pullet. But the wheatens are all young. Well, the roo is actually blue wheaten and the girls are just wheaten but I will incorporate that gene in and make more blue wheatens. Their eggs are a nice size for new layers so they must going to be pretty large when they are older.
Wish the color was better in the photo but inside at night it looks much lighter with the flash.

Lets see if I can figure out how this works now--I have found another source of possible Ameraucana Wheaten eggs. Has anyone heard of Ramey Farms? I believe he is around Salley, SC. Does anyone know him--Gary Ramey? I talked to Gary yesterday about his birds. He is the man I originally bought eggs from for Dennis' uncle last year. He shows his birds regularly and last year got rid of all his adults, kept about 40 of his best chicks and from them has kept the best for breeding. He sounds like a really nice guy and has very fair hatching egg prices. He will not have eggs available until the end of February but that would work for me. I am hoping for some picture of his birds soon.

Sum a gum, didn't notice that but I have heard several of the same things. You can go to your albums and probably put your new avatar back up if it was saved with the move. In the albums section all your avatars are supposed to be there but I haven't gotten far enough to open mine. I just went to the regular album because I was hoping to organize the 600 photos I have into separate albums so I can find them by breeds. I just watched the new video Nifty put up on how to upload but still am not sure how to organize my albums. I thought there would be a way to make new folders, like my hard drive has for me. I assure you, I am not computer savvy, at all!

Yeah, it is your Leghorn. The BLRW will lay tanish brown eggs, your EEs could lay a tan egg, blue egg or green egg unless they have laid before and you know the egg color already.
Yes, you should get sex linked chicks from a RIR roo and barred Rock.

We don't get all the little figures any more that dance around? I liked those! I am not sure what I think of this new site--is the blue too blue? Or is it the blue with the white?? My eyes are already tired.

Yes, Gary is a good guy! I got some of my Araucanas from him. MOF, from all the people I got Araucanas from his bloodline is the ones I have left. I sold the others because they had been bred with tails and such and gave me some less than pleasing chicks. Gary's stock is very nice.
There is some one else on here that bought some Ameraucanas from Gary but can't remember who it was. Gary is excellent to deal with and because of health issues has had to sell more than I know he wanted to. He is an older gentleman but last I saw of him he was still pretty spry!
You will do well to get Ameraucanas from him. I believe his stock is very nice and healthy. He never keeps junk. I do recommend him for any breed.

It is because of all the white. My eyes are tired, too. One of the mods told me how to change it but it did not work when I tried. Nor can I get rid of the ads or make the screen bigger. These are hopefully things that will tweak out later.
