Marietta in the coop!

Wow! Your first post is with us--Welcome!!

We had a really bad storm here today too. I wasn't home at the time but my DH said there was lots of hail and really strong wind/rain. Our pastures look like they have ponds now..

And one of my chicken coops got totally soaked. The coop is pretty open air and the front is mostly wire. All their shavings were completely soaked and their food too. And I had just filled up their feeders yesterday so that was a lot of wasted food

. Oh well..I guess it could be worse! Guess I'll be cleaning out feeders and coops in the morning!

That's when my guineas get chicken feed and think they're in heaven! They get the wet stuff. They seem to love it though. Glad the storms missed us yesterday. I need to get safer housing! We're supposed to hear about the second appraisal today.

There is still some hail laying on the ground from yesterday. I was amazed it was still here as the temps are certainly high enough for it to melt off but it is next to the barn and around the carport. Big piles of it so I suppose it stayed cold enough like that to not melt off. The sun will get it today but I just wonder what it means.
I know if snow lays around for more than 3 days it is waiting on more (as the saying goes, which isn't always true) but what about hail staying overnight? Especially in January? I love to hear old sayings and wives tales, though so many have been disproven, there are others that have some merit.

Out to finish morning chores and back to the bookwork. Got an appointment with the accountant tomorrow and need to have everything in order from all of last year. I hate that PayPal changed it's formatting. It was easier when they combined everything for me and I got totals. Now there is just more work for me from the entire year. I am going to make sure to do each and every month in detail this year. Ugh. Cross referencing is a pain.

Hello SC BYC,
I have not been here in a while. WOW at the changes.
Amy and Susanne are the only ones I have met in person from this site but I feel like I know a lot of you through your post. I've had some bad health news lately. I been told I have pressure built up on my brain which in turn has affected the optic nerves in my eyes. It is giving me bad headaches and blind spots. I ask that y'all pray for me and my family. Believe it or not my chickens have been my saving grace. I go sit with them and it truly makes me feel better. Amy and Susanne my silkies have a speacial place in my heart. I can go sit in their pen and they all cuddle around my feet or in my lap so thank you for such special birds.

Glad your birds are alright! We had a pretty good storm go through here but no hail thank goodness. Lots of pens got soaked. Sorry to hear about the feed also--always a bummer to waste feed. Now the cold is coming!
