Ohhh my goodness it is WINDY here! I was afraid I'd get blown away when I went to check on the chickens.

You are right about the wind. We have a doggie door for Schatzi, our dachshund, and the wind keeps blowing it open. I think I am just going to cover it up for the night and take her out one time right before bed. Actually, that may happen in just a few minutes. It was a busy day at work and then Lou Ann and I went to our second Zumba class. Nothing quite like two, uncoordinated middle-aged women trying to do Zumba. We definitely had some great laughs.
Hope everyone stays safe tonight and doesn't get blown away.

I just started doing Zumba too! It is so much fun! I struggle with the more "dancey" moves but it is a great workout and you're right about it coming with great laughs! A group of my friends and I have started going

Good morning
I am not very computer literate. I know just enough to be dangerous.

I have avoided joining facebook because of the problems that I have heard about it.
But now I am considering it to get my daily chicken fix.

(Never thought I would say that.

Have you all had good experiences and are there some good chicken post on there?

Also is there a good chicken auction site anywhere since eggbid closed.
Maybe it is just me, but I can't really keep up with who is bidding and what the bids are on the BYC BST. Total confusing to my brain this early in the morning or evening.

I usually checked BYC each morning and evening. It was my relaxation and chicken fix.
Plus I was able to learn so much.

Thanks for any advice.

OMG I just realized something. I just switched to WYFF"s web site. It is pure white and lots of white on their page. It is not unpleasant to the eyes. The problem I have been having with this site is the color combinations on this web site. The shades of grey are causing eye strain for me.

Got my first Silkie egg...now to figure out if the white or the black laid it??? Have a pair of each and they are housed together.

Your white Silkies will lay a white egg and your black Silkies will lay a tan egg. The lighter feather the bird the lighter the color tint of the egg.
Years of collecting from all my breeding pens has shown me this.Your mileage may vary but I never have a problem identifying who has laid what and I have spent hours sitting in pens looking over my breeding birds to make the correct decisions on who to breed to what and whom to keep and saw who laid what egg while there.
It has been proven to me that the darker feathered Cochins lay the more tan eggs and the lighter feathered ones lay a lighter egg. All the way up to my Marans, all my breeds have shown me the same tendency.

I was reading last night and I think some were realizing it was this particular font against the grays and not the color itself. Many were complaining about the font size, but it is the same. It does look like this font is thinner and I think that is the problem. I think they are going to try to work on a few of these things once the site has been going a little while.
