Just had to read and catch up on many pages here with the coming show in Newnan...I will not be able to attend in person but hope to re-live it here on BYC!!! I am very excited to see and hear all about everyones times there! I just wanted to post what I think is kinda a funny pic...MY LGD guarding her chicks...LMAO... My LGD may weigh 3 lbs and the chicks are 2 weeks old....

Ain't that the TRUTH! Can you believe she is a teacup Chihuahua / toy terrier mix still alert and guarding (OK I got her back!) at 13 going on 14 in April !?! I am looking for an Australian Sheppard / Sheppard mix for a true outside LGD if anyone hears of a GIRL available...will be well loved and taken care of...yep...I want a girl! Now you all know I am prejudice...at least in dogs, and goats! and...horses...OK...can I say it now? WOMEN ROCK!!!!!! sorry guys....just my thoughts at this moment...

Awwww....she looks very serious! She is doing a good job, she deserves a treat.

Yep, actually 21 chicks peeking out from inside that bin...going to the outside larger brooder this week-end...I've been traveling for work and getting behind...right now it is still dark when I feed and leave for work every morning and dark still when I get home every night to collect eggs!

So the temp is holding at 99.9-100.8 and Humidity of 55-68. It's a Little Giant still air. So far so good...on the 29th They'll go into LockDown...

OH and no one told me that when you get a bator that you CHECK ON IT CONSTANTLY!!!!!

I meant as grown quail.

As babies, I just kept them like my chicks. Actually were with silkie chicks first few days.


So did you lose your adult quail in the winter time because it was too cold or in the summer when it was too hot? And what kind of quail? I've found coturnix to be very hardy birds and the buttons are pretty hardy once grown but the Bob Whites were difficult for me.
