Has anyone had any luck with setting an egg with a bad/detached aircell? I am wondering if I set it in a carton with that end up and dont turn it I may have a chance? I really want these eggs and several have funny shaped cells and one is detached and running around!!

NO OMG I hate that. I do know I can get some to develop sometimes..... - It does develop further if I stand it up. None have hatched like that for me. If it is very detached and running around, those never do anything for me at all.

Wonder if Amy has hatched any like that?

Everyone needs to get better by Saturday! We are going to leave tomorrow night and stay somewhere close. My husband wanted to leave at 5 am on Saturday which didn't really sound very fun to me.

This way we can get there at a reasonable time and not be exhausted.

Colin has decided on his breed and he will be raising white crested black polish including frizzles. He's pretty excited. I hope he likes them!

Can't wait to see everyone at the show. Look for me! If we knew the layout, we could pick a place and time to meet up.

I wanted the buff laced, and white crested blue. DH told me no.

He just does not like them.

I just got a call from my roommate, the neighbors dog broke into our yard and killed at least 2 of my chickens!

I am hoping the third one is hiding somewhere safe. But I can't get home til lunch to even do anything about it..

UPDATE: I still have one chicken! Lola the speckled hen survived the attack, I think by hiding in the coop. The neighbors reaction was very unsatisfying, they just said 'Ok.' no apologies or anything! But I made sure they understood that I don't want their dog getting into my yard again. I am going to line the earth on that side of my fence with chicken wire so the dogs can't dig either way from my side or their side.

Had a good cry over it. Took care of the dead ones. Lola was not happy. her tail feathers are all gone and she was grumbling up a storm.

Will she be lonely by herself out there now?

I'm pretty sure I'm on the mend from whatever this sickness was. I started feeling "off" last weekend, but it didn't really hit me until late Tuesday. I ran a fever yesterday and was achy all over

. Today the fever is gone, along with the aches. I'm just congested and have a bit of a cough. I feel well enough to go to the feed store in a while, so I'm positive I'll be headed to GA early Saturday morning! I just can't pass up this show and seeing/meeting everyone!

I'm happy Lola made it though! She may very well get lonely...may need to get her some new buddies.

She will definitely need new buddies. Which the neighbor should pay for.
