I wanted the buff laced, and white crested blue. DH told me no.

He just does not like them.

I wanted him to get the buff laced too but he likes those crazy ones!

UPDATE: I still have one chicken! Lola the speckled hen survived the attack, I think by hiding in the coop. The neighbors reaction was very unsatisfying, they just said 'Ok.' no apologies or anything! But I made sure they understood that I don't want their dog getting into my yard again. I am going to line the earth on that side of my fence with chicken wire so the dogs can't dig either way from my side or their side.

Had a good cry over it. Took care of the dead ones. Lola was not happy. her tail feathers are all gone and she was grumbling up a storm.

Will she be lonely by herself out there now?
I'm so sorry! I'm sure all of us have faced this situation at one time. She probably will need a friend. I hope you can find one!

Oh me, oh my! Next time use the 3 "S" method if you see the dog.
Then when they complain to you you give a little smile. Even just some bird shot might convince the neighbor and the dog that you mean business.
I love animals but I will not tolerate a dog killing my chickens and my neighbors know it.

LOL. I was thinking that because i know in some places it is legal to shoot a dog attacking your livestock.. But I don't even have a gun. I'm just a city girl getting her hands dirty and loving it. My boyfriend would jump at the chance but he is in Texas until April. He had to hear about all of this through txt this morning.

Kim, you are right, I left the neighbors with a stern, "i don't want the dog in my yard again." and for now i am going to leave it at that. let them make the next move. they live too close to start a fight with them from my little .15 acre plot. Luckily i am on a corner so they are really the only neighbor I have to deal with.

As for you DixieBeast, Newberry isn't so far, If you really want to offer I would consider driving up to meet one of my New BYC friends and bring home a friend or two for my Lola. She only just started laying eggs 2 weeks ago. She's still a young'un. I was looking around Craigslist but I am only seeing chicks. And I already planned on getting chicks during chick days in 2 weeks at Tractor Supply. I also messaged the woman whom i got the chickens from to see if she would sell one more to me. but have yet to hear anything but it is still fresh.. I gotta see how things play out. But I do love a roadtrip.

I have several 12-16 week old Ameraucana and Marans for sale plus silkies. I'm in Greenwood County. Look on my website for our birds (it's in my signature).

WOOT! The Lady I bought Lola from says YES! I can go pick up another Barred Rock from her to keep Lola company. :) Will be going down there this weekend. :) While I like Roadtrips. Johns Island is much closer and I have to reinforce my fence and get my planting done. . . But a roadtrip will be planned for the future!!

Thank you everyone for your support today.

Hello If you notice last time I posted on here I was asking for help on my chicken coop. Well I have almost completed that task and am now looking for some chickens. I would like started juvenile chickens. I would like Easter eggers and some good brown egg layers (don't really care what type just want them to be calm and not aggressive).. I only want a small number. I live in Georgetown SC and since I'm new to the world of chickens I don't know many people around and hopefully someone on here does. If you live close and are selling or know someone who is please reply or PM me. If I cant find any juvenile chickens in the area (not paying the outrageous shipping prices) will settle for baby chicks. Any and all help is welcome.

Thanks

there seem to be a few baby chicks in the area here if you look on craigslist. i know there is someone in Cottageville selling them for 1doller a piece but they are mixed straight run. and i think that would be almost a two hour drive for you. Otherwise you could wait for Chick Days at your local tractor supply.. .

I know that you aren't looking for chicks but that is what I know...
