Very sweet Yancy!

I sprayed my coop down with bleach today. I moved them a good distance away from my other chickens. Now I just hope they don't die from the bleach fumes. I let the bleach sit and then I sprayed it off with water. They are still sneezing a bit but I hardly ever hear it anymore. I think I might REALLY be on the good side of being done with the crap!! I am going to wait a few weeks before I introduce any new birds. Just to cover my bases and maybe bleach it down again one more time before introducing any new birds!!

leirob--I have a few birds in the bator for a friend. Well I have some quail for me and 1 americauna egg and 6 assorted for my friend. They are due around the 24th of October so we will be new parents together! lol!

Moonchild,
Is it not the best feeling on earth?
Wait till you listen to them all peep and squeak in the evening.
You will never sleep the same without them close again :-)

Best wishes! When's the judging?

Hi All! My DD and I have been reading here for a while and she is in love with the silkies! But I could use some more info.
1 - Am guessing they do OK here in SC since you all have them, but are there any special considerations they need?
2 - We have about a dozen full size layers and a roo, will a silkie do OK with that? There is a 9x6 coop attached to a 50x50 run.
3 - Do we "need" more than 1? She is kinda looking for a pet chicken. They are all pets, but some like to be petted more than others. :)
Thanks in advance. Any advice would be helpful in our future flock plans!
