Hi,
I live in South Texas on Baffin Bay and have raised chickens for many years throughout my life and started when I was around 7 years old. I always had the healthiest, friendliest chickens and have always enjoyed having fresh eggs. This go round I will be looking at dual purpose chickens and raise them for egg production and for good meat. I have my plans laid out for my chicken coop and pen and should be ready to start in about 3 weeks. I plan on getting the following breeds and trying them out before settling in on a main breed or two to have. English Buff Orphingtons, American Bresse, Black Jersey Giants, Silver Laced Wyandottes and maybe a couple of others breeds are the ones that I will start with. I'm going to be starting with about 30 chicks and go from there. I have a little over an acre property where the chickens will be able to forage around and look for bugs and insects. I am looking forward to the pleasure that come along with raising chickens and will share pictures as soon as they are bigger, active and running around being chickens. I love this website for all of the great information provided and the great people that participate. Thanks everyone!
