one time at this local feed store in los angeles had a huge silky roo... he was the standard size and perfect... other than the red comb and wattles, i thought that was how he was supposed to be... he was white too... he wasn't bearded, so i didn't end up getting him... now i regret it... he would've been a great foundation for creating std silkies...

anyways... i want EE, or any kind of good layer... i'll even take eggs, i'm gonna incubate after the meet anyways...

no, silkies aren't for me sue... they remind me of moldy bread... LOL... especially white ones... HAHAHAHLADjflkdajsf;ljsaHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAKJHFl;JHADslkfj:KDLFHAHAAHADD:F...

omg...

especially since they have dark skin, and are all fuzzy white... OMGOMGOMGOMGodijflkjsadkgjsdhahHHAHAHHAHAHHAAKjd;fjksdf..

i'm so dumb... but yeah... fuzzy moldy bread...

I just ordered a grab bag selection of Houdan, Silkie, Polish, Cochin and many more fertile eggs. I sure hope that I can get them to hatch. But .................

Czech's_chicks I bet MPC sent some Cochin since they usually have some left at the end of the season. And then there are d'uccles and Brahmas whcih also have feather feet. I used to dislike feather footed chickens until I got my Showgirl and now I want more Silkies. They do need to be washed though especially the light colored birds. My Evil Diva is white...................yuck

Gumbii to each his own. Sue can hand over her Silkie rooster to me !

Czech's_chicks :

I got the 25 pullets deal for $50 through My Pet Chicken so I have no idea what half of them are...I was hoping that you all could help ID them for me?? I am pretty sure there are barred rocks (but they have grey legs???) and maybe some reds, but there are lots of little ones with feathered legs. I've never been a bantam lover outside of the D'anver's and silkies so I have no idea what they may be.

I got my lone little D'anver from them, too. I ordered 5 and she was the only one that made it. I was refunded to other 4 because they died within 48 hours of receiving them. I had 12 or 15 total in the shipment and it was just that breed that passed. I absolutely adore the D'anver....they are very much like quail in how docile they are and they are little love bugs. Since I raise mostly for eggs and meet, these little ones I get here and there are more for indulgence than anything else.

Until I get serious into creating a giant silkie, I'm fine with my mutts and mixes.

The 25 pack on sale for $50 at my pet chicken only has an assortment of their large fowl chickens in it. No bantams, so the feather footed are probably Brahmas or LF Cochins
