Southern Ontario- Canada-looking for eggs/chicks/rooster?

Hi ! this thread is for those of us in Southern Ontario who don't have the same variety that our American-chicken-loving friends have (when we order form hatcheries). I don't want 25+ of the same bird, and I like a colourful flock!

I'd love to discuss hatcheries, but also maybe find some other ways of getting chicks/fertilized eggs. Swapping, buying etc.

I am looking for some meat birds for SPRING 2018. Ideally some nice free ranging bird that is done after 12 or 13 weeks, with great taste!
I'm also looking for a Black Copper Maran that lays really nice dark eggs. Maybe two of those? I blue, green, buff and brown eggs, but none that are really dark.

Where are you around here? I'm a little over an hour away from Toronto.

I'm an hour north of TO. Will have fertilized hatching eggs very soon. I have a mix of EE, some Red crosses, two buff Brahmas (standard) a light Sussex and a bunch of 3 week old chicks. Hens are running with a pure bred Ameraucana, blue Wheaton, from Mitzy Young's stock

Hey!!! Wonderful!! Other chicken people in Ontario! Sounds good @Stephanie Mitchell maybe post some pics of your flock!
I think Im going to be hatching out some eggs soon...... need to decide on what incubator I will buy, and get a rooster!!

I got my incubator used, had to drive to Orangeville but it was $50 bucks and came with a Turner! It's a hovabator. I had pretty good success considering it was my very first time with one, out of 14 eggs 10 hatched out. Next time I won't open the lid so much and I'll have more hatch.

I have 10 chicks ordered from Performance Poultry for end of April. Some Sultans and some salmon faverolles. What breeds do you have ?

Hi there
I have 3 Easter Eggers (one lays blue, other two pale green) one Barnevelder (medium brown), one Buff Orpington (pale brown/buff)and two Marans - a splash and a blue (splash is laying nice darkish egg, blue marans is not laying yet!!! I would like a cream legbar or auracana rooster i think- a double blue gene on his side so i can get bluer eggs and olive green eggs.
