Yes, they are labeling them incorrectly thinking they were Rustic Ramblers. That's them!!

I'm having a hard time with this because their comb and waddles don't turn red.... I'm going by comb size and shank size but I think this breed will keep us guessing until that 12ish week mark.

Hoovers and Freedom Ranger do ship to some of the same TSC stores. It is possible that Hoovers did ship those birds but we were shipping chicks labeled as Southern Rambler.

If every hatchery did not make up their own name maybe there might be less confusion. Drives me nuts.

Well usually it's because every hatchery used different birds in their hybrids, so they're different hybrids.

No, I know that. But usually sexlinks are considered hybrids, and a lot of hatchery specialties are more than 2 breeds

Something like a mule is an interspecific hybrid. But when separate genetic strains of the same species are crossed, it’s also called a hybrid. I know it’s confusing, but that’s basic animal and plant breeding terminology. Usually in that context “hybrid” implies that two purebred strains are used, while “mixed-breed” can be less specific about the genetics of the parents.
