The reason that we have gotten backyard chickens, other than wonderful fertilizer, is to provide our family with eggs that have not been fed soy products. My sons and I are very sensitive to soy and we avoid it in all our foods and home products. We buy grass fed raw milk and grass fed meat to avoid soy. Unfortunately it is in everything, including all the layer feeds I can find nearby.

I have been feeding a mixture of grains and green to my chickens and theya re doing fine so far, but I would love to find a place to buy organic and soy-free chicken feed, or persuade my feed store to order it for me. Anyone know where, what companies to order from?

Same here ... my chickens just started eating the Countryside feed and seem to really like it. It's expensive to have it shipped out to California, but I couldn't find anyone locally selling an organic soy-free food. We ordered the 50 lb bag and I have it split between 2 5-gallon plastic buckets. They are currently being stored in the kitchen because the temperature is more moderate in the house and hopefully the feed will keep fresh longer.
