Happy to say I just heard from Union Point Custom Feeds in Brownsville, OR, and they're willing to make up poultry feed recipes to suit! Here's the response I received:
Teresa, you gave me a big smile. So many people that want a soy-free diet dont understand that the soy is just replacing meat, which is a much better source of essential amino acids. You are willing to give them actual meat, which is what they would prefer anyway. Good for you!
Wed make your ration up out of whole organic wheat and corn, fish meal, vitamins and minerals. We dont use fillers or crummy byproducts. Sometimes we can get organic peas, sometimes not. Sometimes we get organic oats and again, sometimes they arent available. Youd let me know what all you wanted in it, I do the nutrition part, and away we go. Say for instance you want to feed some birds a 20% ration, some an 18% and some a 22%. Well just vary the amount of meat you feed with the ration.
If you are not certified organic we can add some other things that are not strictly organic, like more kelp and brewers yeast; if you are certified we are more limited, but can still put together a good ration.
Bless you for feeding them meat. That is awesome. Most people wont go to the trouble to do it, or think birds are vegetarians.
