Soy-free feed in Portland/Vancouver area

Happy to say I just heard from Union Point Custom Feeds in Brownsville, OR, and they're willing to make up poultry feed recipes to suit! Here's the response I received:

Teresa, you gave me a big smile. So many people that want a soy-free diet don’t understand that the soy is just replacing meat, which is a much better source of essential amino acids. You are willing to give them actual meat, which is what they would prefer anyway. Good for you!
We’d make your ration up out of whole organic wheat and corn, fish meal, vitamins and minerals. We don’t use fillers or crummy byproducts. Sometimes we can get organic peas, sometimes not. Sometimes we get organic oats and again, sometimes they aren’t available. You’d let me know what all you wanted in it, I do the nutrition part, and away we go. Say for instance you want to feed some birds a 20% ration, some an 18% and some a 22%. We’ll just vary the amount of meat you feed with the ration.
If you are not certified organic we can add some other things that are not strictly organic, like more kelp and brewers’ yeast; if you are certified we are more limited, but can still put together a good ration.
Bless you for feeding them meat. That is awesome. Most people won’t go to the trouble to do it, or think birds are vegetarians.

Just another thought. The Feed store in LongView WA does have soy free feed. I am not sure what is called or what the feed store is even named. I got some hens about a year old and that is what their previous owner feed them. She said it wasnt too expensive and i have my father get it when he goes to town every couple of months.

Hmm... I called L & J in Longview and they thought their feed was soy-free, but it has listed as the second ingredient "plant protein", so they were kind enough to call the manufacturer, and sure enough it does contain soy. The manufacturer also said that soy and canola oil are going to be hard to avoid without having the feed custom mixed.
