i am going to be keeping my chickens indoors for the first four weeks of their life, however i have no idea how much space a four week old chicken needs. all i know is i want to make a brooder that has enough space for seven chicks up until they're four weeks old. i am aware they will need 4 sq feet when they are full grown, just not sure what to do at brooder age...

For standard size breeds, I think they say at least 2 sq ft per chick. I had 2' X 4' for 6 chicks and they got awfully crowded by 4 weeks. At least they could fly up on the roost. You can move them to coop earlier than 4 weeks, in fact you can brood them in the coop.
