space per chicken?

Well I can't relocate the cats because I am pretty sure they have owners and I know how devastating it can be to lose a pet. I live in some pine woods and the outer of my yard is fenced in with about 3 1/2 ft tall 2 in fencing.

I already have most of the coop in position it is just not nailed together.

well now I am getting my chickens! So what is your advice on how big the coop should be for (if all goes well) 12 rhode island reds?

I have 8 in a 5X8, so I would say 8X8 and they would have enough room to make um happy. But I could put 12 in mine considering they neve go inside except to sleep. And to give me the eggs.
