good idea for meat birds.
I would not want to keep my feed in the coop year round,
but meaties don't last that long.

That is how I made mine. I had some flexible rubber stuff that I cut and stapled to a piece of wood to cover the top. Mine is also about 3 feet high and holds almost a 50lb bag of food.

I'm fairly tall and don't have much problem pouring in the feed. Although, if I had a little better faith in my sawing ability, I'd probably put a wider top to ease filling.

To put additional stuff in, you just need to slide a 2x4 down the wall. Mine could easily be partitioned to accommodate starter/grower, oyster shells, laying mash, etc.

indeed, these are meat birds:)

and they are mighty fine looking ones at that too!!!

I like the idea. I'll keep this in mind in a year or two when my son is old enough to get into 4-H so he can raise Broliers for the livestock show.

Great idea especially since they eat like a mchine and don't care if they run over another bird to do so.

How many meaties do you have and what size coop are they in?
