space under rafters...how to cover them?

I went to the hardware store and ask for old window screen, which was free, and stapled it in place at the openings. This kept critters and bees out of my coop.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I've gotta shop around..but leaving it open for ventilation is a great idea. I think I'm gonna try the hardware cloth since I'm kind of challenged in the carpentry department, haha.

the space I was covering wasn't enough room for a mouse to get into let alone a coon. That's why I used screen.

Your welcome. I wanted the ventilation and would have left if open if not for several trees that are close enough to the coop for something to jump onto the roof. So that seemed to be the easiest option I could come up with that I could do without help, not cost me any more money, and still do the job. I hope to finish mine Monday or Tuesday, move my run over to it and let the chickens move in. Can't wait! (I don't know why...they aren't laying yet, but still...)
