Thanks! What is a Redbuff?

That's a name for spaldings with a lot of brown or red color on their necks. Used to see lots of them back in the 80's 90's, not so many any more.

Redbuff was often considered to have some cameo in its background. I have a cameo Spalding hen that would look similar to Redbuff. Males didn't show any distinctive difference in colour, only the hens.

The name red buff Spalding name was changed some time back by the UPA as it was the same as other black shoulders and should be called the same as well as the Oaten which is the cameo black shoulder .. The red buff was a cross between a java or Spalding and a black shoulder peahen the higher the green blood the better the Spalding look (to me). As the president of the UPA at that point I pressed for this change to bring things in line with the other BS birds. connerhills
