Sparing

I have 3 6 month old cochin mixes. They will spar sometimes. Going on saddle feathers I did have to cull the 4 one because it was a roo. Do pullets spar???

yes they sure do!

It's called creating the pecking order. And once that is done things get calmer until you either introduce chicken mathmatics or someone else wants the alpha position. Just stand by with a spray bottle of water if things get to rough.

That is good. I just came in from checking them and I still do not see any saddle feathers! I hope that they are pullets!! I want to see if the EE mixes lay green eggs!

Pullets certainly do spar. Hackles come up, chest bounce, squawk.....but they rarely injure each other. As others have said, establishing the pecking order,
