Breeding was why I got out of Orpingtons.
Only talking about english....
They are so slow to mature. They eat too much. Take too long to sex. Didn't lay as well as I'd like and went broody when I'd rather they didn't.
I wanted to breed for color/pattern projects and I was too impatient for them. I switched to Leghorns because they were everything Orps weren't.

well everyone needs something different lol.
Have you bred any interesting colors with leghorns?

Yeah, when we bought our goldlaced we couldnt be sure whether they were girls until they layed an egg lol. I love the orps for all of the things you didnt lol
