so in April I think, earlier this year. me and my sister hatched quail for the first time. the first batch didn't make it as we used the worlds worst incubator.
we tried again with more eggs and hatched 15. my dad said we needed at least 4 females for every male. luckily, 10 were girls. but that left us with like 3 extra boys, my dad made us sell them, but my sister an I were super attached to 3 of them, and because we'd spent so much time with them our quail were fairly friendly.

so we kept 3 and only got rid of 2. My dad let us sleep in today and fed the birds for us before he left for work. he was so confused when 3 quail started crowing. he called us about it later and me and my sister begged him to let us keep all the boys. he said it's not safe to have too many boys so now he is getting 3 more girls : )

Button quail are fine at that ratio. Most people actually keep it at 1:1 or 1:2 with them
