wait I just forgot that weaning chicks off of heat is a thing.
how do I do that? my brooder plates don't have temperature control.
It's gonna snow in a few hours. I feel like it's too cold to wean them off.

I think with the brooder plates you just start raising it every week or two. Should have adjustable legs.

oh yeah, my chicks are 6 weeks, and 8 weeks old... It's raised all the way. and they're fully feathered. I read saying they should be fine without heat but they act cold the night I took the brooder plates away

They "should" be fine but it's up to you. I'd leave it a little longer if they can and do still get under it. If they have nothing to do with it remove it. That's just an opinion do what you think is best.
