We are looking for Spaulding White peafowl so I have been going thru the UPA breeder directory sending out feelers. I started looking at states close to NC and working my way. I got a responce back from one breeder that wanted $250 for not quite yearlings????? They said they were very high % spaulding - of course my next question - show me some pics. I get an email today that they don't have any pics....... LOL

Did I just fall off a turnip truck?

Steve I don't have and peas for you but i do know where you are coming from. I sell chickens, turkeys and call ducks to 4-H kids and always try to respond with pics. if they ask. Duh even a 10.00 chicken is important enough to view before buying! And they are asking 250.00? Me smells a rat there.

Steve...RE; white Spalding.. A high percentage (say 75% or more) Is not an easy bird to this make, say 15 yrs or so. Once you get them ,they breed true. Now If I had 75% white breeders, a person might could buy them from me for $300.00 to $400.00 each If I had more than one pair. You dont see many of this percentage for sale. I know a few people who have good ones but most are costly. I would suggest you see these birds before you buy to be sure that the are what your wanting. In spaldings ,some time the genotype is not represented by the phenotype. What are your expectations for them ? How much is type ? Or is color of the head to be bright orange or blue? I would think all of these in a good white Spalding. On young ones you dont really see their potential , ask for photo of the parents. This is my thinking anyway... connerhills

Oh chickenzoo he is beautiful! That is such a pretty picture with all the greenery in the background too! Lovely!

Steve I hope you can find some good spalding whites. Hopefully the people can get pictures...I mean even if they don't have a camera they could at least borrow a friend's camera to take pictures, upload it to their computer, then send it in an e-mail which is very easy.

Yep. You're absolutely right. All of the crappy pics that I take and post on here are taken with my camera phone.

So, for those of us who can tell a peahen from a peacock and that's about all, elaborate please.
