SPECKLED SUSSEX - - 4 month old IS it a HE or SHE ? ?

Its a hen. I have a lot full of girls that looks just like her. Speckled Sussex have very long and very pointed saddle feathers. There is no mistaking a hen from a roo in that breed. If I wasn't so lazy I would run out and take some pics of my boy and post them. He is a great looking roo.

Our hens (we have three) are very active, outgoing, chatty, and even bossy girls.

For all those who said "HEN" congratulations on a GREAT JOB!

I have learned that speckled sussex seem to have a different speach than the other birds. I have two that came from Ideal and one that came from a different hatchery. All three speak as if they are fussing at you. It is not loud, but there is no denying that they are trying to tell me something !

TALK TALK TALK TALK and right under my feet the whole time. These birds are dangerous because you almost trip anytime you try to walk somewhere !

They are some of my absolute favorite birds. If you get out the lawn chair and set on the lot with them, you can expect them to fly up in our lap, on your arm and shoulder. They are some of the most curious birds I have ever raised. They stay under foot and are always pecking you to find out if you are edible.

if you do the lawn chair thing you may not want to take a nap. They may start to feed on you as you sleep!
