Speckled Sussex. About 10 weeks, tell me it’s not a roo

I had a very cluncky black wyandotte chicken whom I suspected was a rooster for so long. It was a big hen and had a big fat wide comb as wyandottes do. I have friends that would beg for some chicks, and I always held that one back because seemed so rooster-ish. Finally the day came and she laid an egg. So that amazed me up till the end.

I had another little silky/bantam ameraucana I thought was a rooster, she was raised with 2 roosters, and she was more aggressive than they were, she would follow me about and attack me. I was almost going to put her down then she laid a little green egg, I picked her up and loved her and was so happy, and after that she never beat me up again, but she would come over to get held every day.

Wow!! That’s quite the experience LOL. Such interesting creatures

I don't know, I'm no breed expert...I would say pullet nothing about the bird screams cockerel to me. I'm sure @Gray Farms will be back to the thread soon.

Pullet. Tail feathers are not a good indicator of sex with young birds. Its very common for pullets to grow long sickle feathers in like a cockerel would but then molt them out later.

Posting a final update just cause
About 22 weeks old. If it’s a boy at this point then his growth is severely stunted But really though! Thank you to everyone who has commented with their thoughts and guesses over the months!! I’m extremely happy and comforted that this is in fact my sweet little Roxy girl and not Rocky!

It's a pullet but there some kind of mix in it that shot those tail feathers up and also she seems a bit small (which could be the cox) but I think she has some kind of bantam in her to explain the size and the tail.

All of that is irrelevant though because you have a wonderful looking hen-to-be-there!

Yeah, we think she might be mixed with something as well. She has gone through a bit of health issues through all of this, first coccidiosis, then some crazy neurological issue happened to her (no idea what it was and neither did the vet! but she recovered well.) and we think her growth may have been stunted from that. Poor thing. But she is doing awesome now and we love her no matter what kind of little mix she may be

My little SS also has neurological issues. She is 2 now but was really slow to develope, didn't lay eggs until she was a year old. Now she kind of has a head tilt and looses her balance when she scratches around. We love her lots and she is very sweet, gives me about 5 eggs per week.
