Speckled Sussex and Cuckoo Maran?

Which would be which, and if you don't think they are either would you let me know what you do think please?

The one with the white spot on its head (#1) is definitely a cuckoo something (whether it is a barred Plymouth Rock or Maran, I can't tell without seeing the legs). The other chick (#2) looks like a speckled Sussex chick. However, given just a photo/single angle, I can't say I would be able to distinguish whether it was a speckled sussex or a partridge colored chick (such as a Welsummer or EE) without looking at it in person.
