I was told my new speckled Sussex was a hen, but I have doubts. Any thoughts?

Hmm, this is a tough one, but leaning cockerel. (A cockerel is a rooster under the age of one year, once they reach one year old they're considered roosters.)
It is a tad too young to know for certain though.

Okay thank you. Anything I should look out for in the next week or two? I have 2 other chicks with them now and this one kinda of cuddles up almost broody but I’m stumped.

I'd say pullet, all my Sussex hens had rather prominent combs at a young age.

Things to look out for is comb and wattle development.
