I know I am driving y'all crazy. But in my defense, lol, I have 2 SS chicks that one is more mahogany and the other is more brown, so it throws me off.

Anyway, this baby is 12 weeks old (well, 12 weeks and 2 days to be precise) Is it still a pullet?

ALL IMAGES ARE OF THE SAME BIRD.

Pullet! Differences in color are normal for this breed especially in hatchery stock. But there are NO pointy saddle feathers and the comb is still small. I raised Sussex this year. All my gals start to pink up at this age. :)

But the boys were MUCH sooner.

Whew!!! Thank you! Lol, I already had to send my Welsummer cockerel to my dad's to live lol

Ive now had two 2 people in a fb group say it is definitely a cockerel.

I have 3 speckled sussex cockerels about 14 wks old now, their combs are almost an inch tall, at least 3/4, anyway. I had 4, but one began picking on the light brahma and became chicken dinner last night. I will see if I can get a picture. My 2 hens have more comb than this pullet at that age. I will try to take a picture and post it, so you can see the difference. My roosters have fully developed hackle feathers and are handsome boys, much larger than the hens and very tall, with 2 curving tail feathers that the girls don't have. Unfortunately, they are starting to get kind of scrappy... Down side of hatchery chicks, always twice as many roosters as hens in the straight run... My new rule is buy pullets if they offer anything but straight run only...
