Hi all. I was just wondering, being a chicken noob and all, what your thoughts on this are; first of all i have no health concerns for this bird, she is running around the yard, eating, drinking etc. however, her comb is very pale, pinkish, and her feet seem very pale compared to all the others. She is about 5 months old. I picked her up with 2 others the same age/flock, who have red combs and yellow feet. I think they are all laying, though I don't open there egg box while in action to see who is/isn't. But of 4 birds, I average 2.5 eggs a day, so I'm guessing they all lay, and she isnt egg bound. Basically I was just wondering, if the off colors should be a concern, or if I shouldn't worry if she seems healthy and happy?
Thanks,
Les

This breed is new to me this year. That's the disclaimer.

Mine is only 15 weeks old, so I can't speak to the pale pink comb. However, this breed does not have yellow skin, they have white/pink, so the feet will be pale compared to the yellow skinned breeds.

White legs are normal for an SS, and she is laying yet because she is young. I have 5 month old SS's and only 1 or 2 out of 5 have red combs yet, and they aren't laying but hopefully will soon.

Thanks for the info. Maybe she is just slower to devolop than her "sisters". I thought they were all laying, but perhaps I'm wrong. I have four chickens. My Cochin is a champ and lays nearly everyday, I know because her eggs are white. The most I've had in one day is 3 eggs, always one white. The other two "sisters" are much larger than her too. So maybe she's just a little behind.

My other Sussex has yellow legs and her comb is nice and red. That's what I was comparing to is all. They are from the same flock, hatched at the same time.
The fourth is a Barred Plymouth rock, also hatched at the same time.
