Speckled Sussex- will their eggs get any larger?

I'd definitely say my own hens' eggs are small. If they ever get bigger, that'd be great, but I do love this breed.

Zuzu? What a sweet name.

About the egg size, when I end up with a hen that lays small-ish eggs, I like to console myself with the thought that it's probably the size that is more in line with the way nature intended it to be. Those huge leghorn eggs (and a few other breeds) were selected for (by scientists in labs) year after year to the point that the great-grandchildren-hens end up laying huge Jumbo eggs that wouldn't usually be found in nature very often. I know ... small consolation, but what else can I do???

Makes me feel better too. They are just doing what nature intended.
Zuzu has a sister named Petals, both named for "It's a Wonderful Life." Zuzu has more white on her, and Petals is a bit more friendly.

Love these birds for how personable they are. Mine are all pets and the plus is the egg laying. I just have a problem find anyone who sells SS hatching eggs. My one girl I have left has gotten too old to lay and would love to have some more.

I am disappointed with my speckled sussex as they were advertised to lay large eggs,
I might as well ordered bantams as far as the size of the eggs. I will give these away
try again. The best ones I've had before were the "Red Stars" so I guess I'll go back
to those and wait another year. Waste of money and time.

I had 2 speckled sussex (down to one now), and while both absolutely lovely ladies, they laid small-medium sized eggs. I was not impressed with the egg size for sure. But they sure are pretty and personable chickens!

I love my speckled sussex Pepper is 21 weeks old and just laid her second egg this week. They are small but mighty beautiful cream color hard shell and dark yolk Absolutely delicious they were😁 So I'd like to mention my black sex link. Also laid her first egg. She's 20 weeks old again was a very small egg. Everything I research tells me.This is normal when they first start laying. This is my first flock Raised them from day old chicks. My sussex was a week older than the other chicks
